The Spiritual Science of Angels & Demons

I just saw Ron Howard’s, Angels and Demons; fantastic!
Angels & Demons – Movie adaptation of Dan Brown’s bestseller book Tom Hanks second time in a role of symbologist Robert Langdon.
Angels and Demons is prequel to The Da Vinci Code Movie
This movies underlying theme was that science and religion or spirituality are actually one and the same.
For Hollywood purposes, they didn’t come right out and say that because that would have been way to controversial so they said “Science is eroding religion.” And the Catholic church and many denominations are falling by the wayside as we get closer to understanding the laws of the universe and what God (or whatever name you use) really is and what it means to us.
The movie also demonstrated how much history, truth and information has and still is being kept from the 1 billion catholics and the world at large as Robert Langdon, played by Tom Hanks gets access to the Vatican’s archives and was able to decode the plot to shine light on the city.
If you are a devout catholic, christian or otherwise, don’t go see this movie as it will completely alter the cloack of faith you may currently be under. However, if you have questions, that your religion has not been able to answer or if you have been criticized, ridiculed and repremanded by any religious faith, this is the movie you need to see.
Okay, so here is the science and premise of the movie.
In Angels & Demons Tom Hanks plays Harvard academic Robert Langdon, who discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood called the Illuminati – the most powerful underground organization in history. An organization that embodied leading thinkers and scientists of the time.
According to Wikipedia, Illuminati (plural of Latin illuminatus, “enlightened”) is a name that refers to several groups, both historical and modern, and both real and fictitious. Historically, it refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776. In modern times it is also used to refer to a purported conspiratorial organization which acts as a shadowy “power behind the throne,” allegedly controlling world affairs through present day governments and corporations, usually as a modern incarnation or continuation of the Bavarian Illuminati. In this context, Illuminati is often used in reference to a New World Order (NWO). Many conspiracy theorists believe the Illuminati are the masterminds behind events that will lead to the establishment of such a New World Order. Confusing the issue further is the fact that there are also several modern fraternal groups which include the word “Illuminati” in their names.
When Langdon finds evidence that the Illuminati have stolen antimatter from a secret laboratory at CERN, which they plan to use as a devastating weapon to destroy the Vatican, he and CERN scientist Vittoria Vetra begin a race against time to recover the antimatter and prevent catastrophe.
But what is antimatter? Is is real? Is it dangerous? What is CERN?
CERN is a group of scientist who are searching for what’s known as the Higgs Boson or The God Particle. Many organized religons are quivering in their boots if this smallest of sub atomic particles is every isolated and studied. However, some religions and spiritual organizations such as SHOCKphilosophy welcome the discovery as it may finally answer the question of what God/Universe is and how intention and manifestation actually work.
In particle physics, antimatter is the extension of the concept of the antiparticle to matter, where antimatter is composed of antiparticles in the same way that normal matter is composed of particles. For example, an antielectron (a positron, an electron with a positive charge) and an antiproton (a proton with a negative charge) could form an antihydrogen atom in the same way that an electron and a proton form a normal matter hydrogen atom. Furthermore, mixing matter and antimatter would lead to the annihilation of both in the same way that mixing antiparticles and particles does, thus giving rise to high-energy photons (gamma rays) or other particle-antiparticle pairs.
Angels and Demons is about 2 hours and 20 minutes; every second is a valuable look into the question of our very existence.

Empowering the Homeless One Success Story At a Time
By Philippe “SHOCK” Matthews
We drive by them everyday in cities and towns around the country. We turn our heads when we walk past them and frown if they make verbal contact. They are ignored and ridiculed, sometimes assaulted. They are human beings struggling to find their way. They are us one or two paychecks missed. They are the homeless population here in Sacramento.
Recently, I had the privileged of meeting Jodi Nerell at a downtown social function where Jodi shared with me that she was the Program Director for the Guest House Homeless Clinic for El Hogar Community Services here in Sacramento. After my conversation with her, Jodi invited me to sit in on one their first advisory board meetings with past graduates from the Guest House Homeless Clinic. I was so moved and empowered by the strength of the people I met and the stories that were told such as Linda McKinley who said, “I started here at the Guest House. I was homeless, I was sick. These people have helped me as of today I am an intern at NCADD (National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence). I am an ex felon, I’ve had forty seven years of addiction and I am three years sober. I am fifty six years old and I am so excited about my life today. I am the oldest student in my class and I kept a 3.0 grade average. Guest House saved my life. One time I was in a crisis and I had this place to come to. If it were not for them, I would probably still be in my addiction, homeless with my shopping carts.”
Another Guest House alum sitting on the Advisory Board was Jason, who became homeless five years ago and shared how his mental illness did not start with his homelessness but actually years before. “I have bipolar and post traumatic stress disorder. I sometimes have severe anxiety issues and because of the way I was raised, violence was most times the only answer for me. For the last five years, I’ve been working on my temper. I realized my rage was not rage but an anxiety attack and once I learned that there were ways to deal with that most of which I learned here, it has been a lot easier to deal with these things. One of the first things I did here is Cynthia’s PSTD group and what I learned was that I was not alone. There were people who went through the same crap I had gone through.”
Jodi Nerell has worked in social services for fifteen years. She received her undergraduate at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo (Family Psy.) and graduated San Francisco State University with a Masters in Social Work, MSW. Her agency specializes in the provision of mental health services which is augmented by site specific support services such as housing and subsidies for homeless elderly individuals.
In my own personal journey, I too have experienced pain, shame and hopelessness that comes when we lose our basic ability to secure shelter for ourselves. I was fascinated by Jodi’s genuine enthusiasm for empowering the homeless along with her dedication in helping a community of people who because of economic strife, mental illness, personal tragedy or unforeseen misfortune were no longer able to help themselves. The mission of El Hogar is to provide services that contribute to the mental health and emotional well-being of individuals and families in the Sacramento community. El Hogar Community Services, Inc. has provided mental health supportive services to adults with chronic mental illness in the Sacramento, California region since 1977. In this exclusive Q&A with Jodi Nerell, you will learn about what the “New Homeless” population looks like here in Sacramento and how we all can assist in ending this debilitating cycle of poverty and mental illness that is crippling more individuals and families than ever before.
What are the unique skill sets that make your staff efficient at helping people at their lowest point?
We have three programs under the El Hogar umbrella (Guest House, Regional Support Team, and Sierra Elder Wellness). Collectively we have 65 employees who provide services for approximately 3300 clients annually. Our agency embraces the concepts of recovery (hope, personal empowerment, advocacy, etc.) and many of the staff have lived experiences which complement the extensive clinical training the agency provides.
How big is your staff and have any of them ever been homeless?
Our staff here at the clinic is 10 with 4-5 interns that rotate throughout the academic year. Yes, several have experienced homelessness and approximately 80% of us are former consumers of the very services we now provide.
Talk to me about the new face of homelessness. Who is losing their ability to provide a home for themselves?
It’s indiscriminate really. Most recently we are seeing more families, former foster youth, and professionals who were laid off-lost their health benefits and their homes. It’s sickening to witness. People are feeling disillusioned, in shock, and completely helpless.
Are there mental disorders that your agency is qualified to treat?
Our clinic provides services for adults who suffer from some of the most debilitating mental illnesses (schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorder, delusional disorder, schizoaffective disorder and specific personality disorders).
What is the official definition of homelessness versus the definition of the agency?
The Federal definition of homelessness is: “an individual who lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence; and a supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to provide temporary living accommodations (including welfare hotels, congregate shelters, and transitional housing for the mentally ill); an institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized; or a public or private place not designed for, or ordinarily used as, a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings”. We provide services under that definition, which differs slightly from the more restrictive Housing and Urban Development definition of homelessness which is limited to individuals living on the street or in shelters (excluding individuals who are forced to live in motels or “doubled-up”- temporarily living with someone else)
How does homelessness affect children?
Children whose families are experiencing homelessness are at risk of child welfare involvement and family fragmentation attributable to the living conditions associated with homelessness. Cognitive development, language acquisition and motor skills can be seriously compromised due to the instability of homelessness. It is well documented that in school age children, those experiencing homelessness are diagnosed with learning disabilities, suffering from attachment disorders, and diagnosed with chronic and acute health conditions at a much higher rate than other children.
Are there entire families that are homeless?
Yes, unfortunately, and we are seeing an increase in that phenomena.
Why are you so passionate about the work you do?
I cannot imagine doing NOTHING and am intimately cognizant of the fact that it could just as easily be me on the other end of the table. In fact, at various periods in my life, it was me and this is my chance to give back what I received. The gift of Reciprocity can never be understated.
How does a typical day begin for you?
I check in with the team, we assess the waiting line at the front door and strategize ways to address the need with the staffing pattern. Triage process lasts most of the morning and I assist with consultation, provide provisional diagnosis, and meet individually with folks on my caseload. Meetings of course, lots of them, and then back to the office to disseminate information and prepare for inservices, etc. The 8-hr. workday does not apply here, nor could it given people’s needs don’t fit an 8-5 pattern.
Are there different profiles of homeless people?
Sure- and the demographic continues to change. We see a broad range of individuals- former foster youth, veterans, seniors, people with extensive educational/professional backgrounds (engineers, social workers, professors, pastors), those who are struggling with co-morbid conditions (addiction and mental health disorders, individuals with criminal justice background), and those who have been chronically homeless vs. recently homeless- it really runs the gamut. Homelessness doesn’t discriminate- it could be any one’s reality.
I heard that there are some homeless people that prefer to be homeless and don’t want to integrate back into society. Is that true?
We do encounter people who are entrenched in the culture of homelessness and find it difficult to re-integrate. We respect where they are at and work to give them a positive experience with “the system”.
What about the people who try to beat the system and are just looking for a free handout? How do you address this issue?
Many of our clients report feeling “beat by the system”, vs. the other way around. We recognize that the “beating the system” mentality is actually a survival/coping mechanism that may have served them well in other arenas and at different points in their lives, but may be ineffective at getting their needs met as adults. We strive to have open honest lines of communication with those we serve, so we will open up that dialogue if appropriate. I am actually more focused on the other end of that coin, hoping to outreach and engage those that want/need the “free handout” so that we can collaborate on improving their quality of life.
I heard you were featured on Oprah. How did that happen?
We weren’t featured, the “tent city” located two blocks behind us was profiled in addition to the Loaves & Fishes program which provides an extensive array of support services to those experiencing homelessness. Our services are a complement to theirs and we work interdependently to address the plethora of needs that you can imagine comes with homelessness and mental illness.
How can we change the perception of the homeless and realize they are not bums in the street strung out on drugs?
I think it first begins with the individual- taking a personal inventory of all of the support people in one’s life and an honest accounting of the “luxuries” many of us have…and then removing them. Imagining those layers removed, in combination with a catastrophic event (loss of a loved one, job loss, onset of auditory hallucinations, etc.) gives you a sense of what many of our clients experience. No one wakes up and “chooses” homelessness, addiction, or mental illness. Looking at others, truly looking at those you pass on the street, in front of your favorite coffee hang out- will inevitably force you to SEE the person not the circumstance that they currently find themselves in.
I understand that a lot of people who become homeless do seek self-medicating drugs or alcohol to numb the pain of their situation.
That is the reality for some individuals- and what people choose as their survival/coping strategy varies from person to person. Our clinic seeks to tackle both issues in a parallel fashion (ie. Mental health treatment concomitantly with Alcohol/Drug treatment).
What kind of medical attention and psychological counseling does El Hogar offer?
We offer individual and group counseling, psychopharmacological therapies, and facilitate connection with a Primary Care doctor (some of our sites pay for the visit and provide transportation).
How do you handle those that are suicidal and feel complete hopelessness?
We begin by opening up the dialogue, engaging the person with a non-threatening, non-judgemental approach and conducting a suicide assessment to determine lethality. Empathic listening and the genuine expression of concern a caring person goes a long way. If hospitalization is necessary, we explain the process and attempt to reach a voluntary decision to seek assistance. We will also evaluate current medications and potential substance interaction effects as well, to mitigate an overdose occurrence.
What is your ultimate goal with your program and mission at El Hogar? Our mission statement is “To provide services that contribute to the mental health and emotional well-being of individuals and families in the Sacramento community”. To that end, the goal of our clinic is to essentially render ourselves non-essential. Our “graduate” profile is an individual who has obtained/sustained recovery from mental illness, is residing in a stable environment, is connected with a Primary Care physician and has secured financial solvency including health coverage (via employment, SSDI/SSI).
What can individuals do to help the homeless but don’t know where or how to start?
Connect with local providers and ascertain what services they are providing that most succinctly align with what you would like to do. There is still a lot to be done, but we wouldn’t be where we are if it weren’t for the vision, altruism, and commitment of a cadre of volunteers, donors, and professionals who are passionate about this type of service.

Knowing

The movie: Knowing with Nicolas Cage had a lot of messages about determinism vs. randomness. It blended science, religion and spirituality.
The movie started out like a thriller and ended up similar to the 2000 release of Mission to Mars; hinting that aliens or evolved beings repopulated the earth.
The movies description states that fifty years ago, a schoolgirl’s cryptic document was buried in a time capsule and fifty years later, falls into the hands of Caleb Koestler, the son of professor John Koestler . John figures out that the encoded message accurately lists every major disaster from the past five decades, and predicts three future calamities — one a global cataclysm. When his warnings fall on deaf ears, John enlists the help of the prophetic author’s daughter and granddaughter to try to avert the ultimate disaster.
There were some predictable moments in the film, but overall, Knowing had something for everyone who beleived in something better awaits us as humanity transcends. Whether you are a creationist, darwinist or intelligent designer, you will find some meaning in this movie.
God Doesn’t Give A Damn About Your Prayers. Nothing Personal!

Many people ask me the question about belief and how important it is to believe or know the universal laws of the SHOCKphilosophy or the SHOCKprocess and I tell them that it really doesn’t matter if they believe in it or not; Universal Laws don’t need our permission or validation to produce an intention or manifestation. In fact, in an interview with Dr. Deepak Chopra, I asked him the very same question and his response was, “Not at all. It’s fun to know them [universal laws] but you don’t have to know them.”
The fact is there are governing laws that we must abide by and they work for either side good or evil. They work for the saints and the sinners. A universal law such as Cause & Effect is not a law we can bend or break if we try to treat an effect with another effect we merely create another effect and spiral further down the rabbit hole until we lose consciousness and the ability to perceive what is real and what is not real; period! You must change an effect by altering the cause. You can only permanently affect matter with the mind. You must focus on the wave to create or alter a particle (experience, event, object). If you wake tomorrow morning and stop believing in gravity, it doesn’t mean if you fall off a building you are going to bounce like Neo did in the Matrix. If and when you go against universal law and principle, simply stated, you will bust your butt!
Have you ever felt that God didn’t love you or that God didn’t hear your cry for help? Because universal law (energy) is impersonal, it might appear that you are alone and that the universe doesn’t hear your prayer or plead. The fact is the universe does hear your plead but the signal has to be sent a certain way for the universe to yield to it. Otherwise, it will be treated as a fragmented, inconsistent noise that sends back the effect of a fragmented, incomplete outcome.
Author of Science of Mind, Ernest Holmes says, “The Universe is impersonal. It gives alike to all. It is no respecter of persons. It values each alike. Its nature is to impart, ours is to receive. When we stand in the light, we cast a shadow across the pathway of our own experience.”
One reason our prayers don’t get answered is because usually we are asking for something that we already have! Asking Source for more money is like asking Bill Gates to produce an operating system, it already exists. The SHOCKphilosophy principle #3 says that Creation HasAlready Been Created meaning that the quantum-God has already created the ultimate construct for all of our prayers to be answered otherwise we could not dream, desire or produce a prayer in the first place.
The quantum-God expects us to be adept enough to claim what we want more of rather than ask for what we want more of. This is why when we beg and plead to God to answer our prayers it appears that it falls on deaf ears. Not so, the question and the answer exist simultaneously therefore canceling each other out and keeping you stuck at your present reality or point of observation.

Lately, I’ve been using affirmations that I call Absolute Affirmations or affirmations that manifest the highest and purest outcome from any and all desire I have ever had, currently have or ever will have. One such Absolute Affirmation is by The Enlightened One, Ramtha from his book known as “The White Book.” It simply states, “From the Lord God of my being. I now know all there is to know in this moment. So be it.”
Rather than asking God for what it is you think you don’t have because you have not developed the consciousness to see and affirm what you already know what it is even before the question has been posed. Remember The SHOCKphilosophy Principle Energy Is/God Is. This means that there is a quantum database of unlimited possibilities that already exist for you and will match your desire but you can’t ask for it to unlock it. You must affirm it and acknowledge it before it shows up.
REMEMBER: And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. (Isaiah 65:24)
Philippe Matthews’ radical approach to the Spiritual Realities of the Quantum Superposition will challenge your fundamental beliefs about what God is and your relationship to the Divine. If you are afraid of the truth, don’t read The SHOCKphilosophy: A Mindset for Massive Manifestation.

The Brain, Biology and Our Beliefs
March 5, 2009 by Philippe Matthews

In a recent Time magazine article entitled, “The Biology of Belief,” it was written that what makes the parietal lobe special is not where it lives but what it does — particularly concerning matters of faith.
If you’ve ever prayed so hard that you’ve lost all sense of a larger world outside yourself, that’s your parietal lobe at work. If you’ve ever meditated so deeply that you’d swear the very boundaries of your body had dissolved, that’s your parietal too. There are other regions responsible for making your brain the spiritual amusement park it can be: your thalamus plays a role, as do your frontal lobes. But it’s your parietal lobe — a central mass of tissue that processes sensory input — that may have the most transporting effect.
More Related
But it’s also true that our brains and bodies contain an awful lot of spiritual wiring.
Dr. Andrew Newberg, a professor of radiology, psychology and religious studies at the University of Pennsylvania and co-founder of Penn’s Center for Spirituality and the Mind. “The way the brain works is so compatible with religion and spirituality that we’re going to be enmeshed in both for a long time.”
When people engage in prayer, it’s the frontal lobes that take the lead, since they govern focus and concentration. During very deep prayer, the parietal lobe powers down, which is what allows us to experience that sense of having loosed our earthly moorings. The frontal lobes go quieter when worshippers are involved in the singular activity of speaking in tongues — which jibes nicely with the speakers’ subjective experience that they are not in control of what they’re saying.
Pray and meditate enough and some changes in the brain become permanent. Long-term meditators — those with 15 years of practice or more — appear to have thicker frontal lobes than nonmeditators. People who describe themselves as highly spiritual tend to exhibit an asymmetry in the thalamus — a feature that other people can develop after just eight weeks of training in meditation skills.
Newberg describes a cancer patient whose tumors shrank when he was given an experimental drug, grew back when he learned that the drug was ineffective in other patients and shrank again when his doctor administered sterile water but said it was a more powerful version of the medication. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ultimately declared the drug ineffective, and the patient died.
Those who never attend religious services have twice the risk of dying over the next eight years as people who attend once a week.
